Open House Outline

Art In Lower School

Thank you to all the parents present at the open house. You can find below the curriculum outline that was distributed during that evening.

Hello I am Cris Almeida; I am the proud art teacher of 460 students from preschool up to 5th grade. I am from Brasilia but I have been living in Sao Paulo for 20 years, 19 of which I have been teaching at Graded. I am married to a Paulista and we have 3 daughters. I am a certified Montessori teacher and I have my art education degree from FAAP. I am now pursuing my Masters in Education through an international program offered by Framingham University. My art education belief is summed up in a quoted by Pablo Picasso:
"All children are artists!"

Lower School Students are exposed to art lessons once a week. K5 students’ classes are 30 minutes long and elementary classes are 40 minutes long. Art classes focus on the exploration of various materials and techniques such as drawing, painting, collages, watercolor, and ceramics as well as the 7 basic elements of art: line, shapes, color, value, form, texture and space. Students are exposed to the work of various famous artists as well as the most important visual art themes such as still life, portraits, landscapes, figure and animals in art. The curriculum also includes topics like art for celebration and some interdisciplinary projects. Class projects, pictures and updates will be posted on the blog below:
